JBL Clip+ (LA Lakers)

Everyone needs a Bluetooth speaker…right? I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on a Bluetooth speaker, but I wanted something that would at the very least, sound decent. Another thing that I absolutely needed was portability. Now technically I suppose almost all Bluetooth speakers are portable to a point, but I needed something that I could fit in my backpack and take with me when I travel. My first choice was the JAM Rewind Speaker. The main reason? It looks like a cassette tape, how awesome is that? The problem was I didn’t want to spend $40 on such a small speaker. The Clip had the same problem, it was just a bit more than I wanted to pay, that is until it went on sale for $30….done. Unboxing and first thoughts The box was fairly simple. In the box were the speaker, manual/warranty info, and a short micro USB cable. Like I said fairly simple. I got the LA Lakers version of this guy so it is purple and yellow with a Lakers logo on the front. If you’re looking at the s

Creative SoundBlaster E5 Headphone Amp

I’m honestly not too sure how I could break this up into sections. This is the first time I’ve even used a headphone amp. Hell up until about a year ago I didn’t even know such a thing existed, at least not a portable option. I love music plain and simple. When people ask me what kind of music I like I answer ‘I like just about everything’. And for the most part that is true. I enjoy Blues (just about all varieties, Delta is my favorite though), Classical, R&B, Rap (old school, not this crap now days), Some Country (mostly the ‘rock’ country, can’t hang with Bluegrass though), Metal (not death), Alternative, Rock, Rock n’ Roll (yes it’s different than rock), and creative DubStep. I say creative Dubstep because most of that shit sounds the same Black Hole by Skism is good. Anyway I like what I like and it’s a very eclectic mix. I have different headphones that work well with different kinds of music. My M6 Pro’s are great for Classical and Blues, not so great for Rap and

Anker SoundBuds vs. Jaybird BlueBuds X

Fair Fight? First off this probably isn’t gonna be a fair fight. I’m taking a pair of $20 bluetooth earbuds and putting them against a $100 pair. There’s no way the cheaper pair can keep up, right? Yes I am putting these up against each other. No it’s not a fair fight, but that’s what makes it fun right? David vs. Goliath. Rocky vs. Apollo. Soy burger vs. Elk burger (have you tried an Elk burger? Oh my God…) Battery Life Each claims 8 hours battery life. While I don’t actually time how long I have sound going through these, I just do a ‘real world’ type test. I do most of my listening at work and I rarely turn them off when I am not listening. If I had to take a guess I would say yes both probably get right around 8 hours, they are both fairly consistent with each other. One thing I did notice after a handful of minutes of not being used the Anker’s actually turn themselves off to save power. That is both a good thing and a bad thing, when I go to listen to music again the
